Los resultados primarios examinados fueron la mejora en la latencia del sue\u00f1o, la calidad del sue\u00f1o y el tiempo total de sue\u00f1o. Se realiz\u00f3 una metorregresi\u00f3n para examinar la influencia de la dosis y la duraci\u00f3n de la melatonina en la eficacia informada.<\/p><p><strong>RESULTADOS: <\/strong>Diecinueve estudios con 1683 sujetos fueron incluidos en este meta-an\u00e1lisis. La melatonina demostr\u00f3 una eficacia significativa en la reducci\u00f3n de la latencia del sue\u00f1o (diferencia de medias ponderada [DMP] = 7,06 minutos [IC del 95%: 4,37 a 9,75], Z = 5,15, p&lt;0,001) y en el aumento del tiempo total de sue\u00f1o (DMP = 8,25 minutos [IC del 95%: 1,74 a 14,75], Z = 2,48, p = 0,013). Los ensayos con mayor duraci\u00f3n y con dosis m\u00e1s altas de melatonina demostraron mayores efectos en la disminuci\u00f3n de la latencia del sue\u00f1o y el aumento del tiempo total de sue\u00f1o. La calidad general del sue\u00f1o mejor\u00f3 significativamente en los sujetos que tomaron melatonina (diferencia de medias estandarizada = 0,22 [IC del 95%: 0,12 a 0,32], Z = 4,52, p&lt;0,001) en comparaci\u00f3n con placebo. No se observaron efectos significativos de la duraci\u00f3n del ensayo y la dosis de melatonina sobre la calidad del sue\u00f1o.
