I principali risultati esaminati erano il miglioramento della latenza del sonno, la qualit\u00e0 del sonno e la durata totale del sonno. \u00c8 stata eseguita una metaregressione per esaminare l&#8217;influenza della dose e della durata della melatonina sull&#8217;efficacia riportata.<\/p><p><strong>RISULTATI:<\/strong> Diciannove studi con 1683 soggetti sono stati inclusi in questa meta-analisi. La melatonina ha dimostrato un&#8217;efficacia significativa nella riduzione della latenza del sonno (differenza media ponderata [DMP] = 7,06 minuti [IC 95%: 4,37 a 9,75], Z = 5,15, p&lt;0,001) e nell&#8217;aumento della durata totale del sonno (DMP = 8,25 minuti [IC 95%: 1,74 a 14,75], Z = 2,48, p = 0,013). Gli studi con maggiore durata e con dosi pi\u00f9 alte di melatonina hanno mostrato effetti maggiori nella riduzione della latenza del sonno e nell&#8217;aumento della durata totale di sonno. La qualit\u00e0 generale del sonno \u00e8 migliorata significativamente nei soggetti che hanno assunto melatonina (differenza media standardizzata = 0,22 [IC 95%: 0,12 a 0,32], Z = 4,52, p&lt;0,001) rispetto al placebo. Non sono stati osservati effetti significativi della durata dello studio e della dose di melatonina sulla qualit\u00e0 del sonno.
